Good Luck, Kindergarteners!

Having done several Kindergarten Step Up Ceremony in my career, I should be used to the feeling of the "ritual" of moving up my students of three years. These are the children who's parents have entrusted me to care for, help educate and foster. When you think you get use to doing something and you think you know the formula to go through it, something else happens. As a teacher, I am able to see children's growth unfold in front of me. The same 3-year old I met at the Suder gym for Preschool Orientation is different: better and more matured, as I bid them off to first grade. I also know that these kindergarten students would have grown in spite of me. However, I also believe that the combination of parent and teacher collaboration, evolving teaching philosophy and sincere passion for education helped positively mold my students to who they are now. I wish that they would remember my advice and lessons as much as I will hold them dearly in my heart forever.

Thank you to Sophia, Leslie, Zoe, Audrey, Zeia, Ibrahim, Natalie, Cameron and Noah! You taught me so much this year. I wish you only the best things in the world!

Love always,

Ms. Guerrero

The Last Weeks of School

Hello, families!

We have finally met the last day of school last June 19th. It was bittersweet saying goodbye to everyone. There are children moving to the next cycle, some are moving to a new school and some were goodbyes just for now. I feel very fortunate that I get to be a witness to so many children's growth and progress at school-academically, socially and emotionally.

Our last weeks of school were full of learning, celebrations and fun events! We went to the zoo, Spring Art Fest, had our school carnival and picnic. In the classroom, we had a pajama pizza party and a talent show.

Thank you for the trust, love and support you have all given Ms. Castillo, Mr. Nick and I this school year. We had such a great year and we can't wait to see what next year has in store for us.

We also want to thank Ms. Sonnia for her time in our classroom. She was an important part of the success of this school year. We wish you all the best! We hope to see you and Africa visit Suder next school year.

Personally, I am going to be spending time with my family and friends. I will try to sleep in a little and get back to taking care of myself. =) I am also working on growing as an educator. I am working on next year's curriculum mapping with the rest of Suder's amazing EC teachers. I also received a week-long scholarship to be a part of Erikson Institute's Big Ideas for Early Learning, which focuses on Language and Literacy. Lastly, I am traveling to India to do volunteer work. I was accepted to be a part of a 3-week fellowship that will mentor teachers with limited resources in Bangalore, India. I can't wait to share my learnings from the things I have planned for this summer!

See you at Suder! Enjoy your summer.

Always,

Ms. Guerrero
