Parent Collaboration and other Celebrations!

Wow, what a busy week we had last week! Room 101 had parents come in to take a peek of what we do in the classroom everyday. It was very nice to read all of your kind words and compliments. If you are interested in setting an observation time, please email me or let me know during dismissal. This week is the last week for parent observations.

Our work cycle continues to grow and improve. I am noticing several students working hard  based on their interests and needs. Our room is always moving and working!

We were blessed with beautiful weather last week, which resulted to garden time and a walking field trip. At the Peace garden, we went on a nature hunt. The children started a collection of things we found in the garden. They tried to find a match for each thing they picked. In the classroom the Kindergarteners used the collection to practice making sets using different attributes. The walking field trip was so much fun! We were able to practice crossing the street, play at an awesome park and eat our lunch picnic style. Thank you to our volunteer parents.

We also celebrated Diwali last week. Thank you to the Khatri family for taking time to prepare a presentation, activities and share so many delicious snack! The children were so appreciative of this event. =) (If your family wants to share a holiday you celebrate, please contact me.)

I also want to thank everyone who went to the Parent Coffee: Early Childhood. It was very pleasant having a conversation about the Montessori Philosophy with all of you. Thank you for your continued support.

Lastly, PICTURES! Enjoy them as much as I enjoy taking them.

See you at school!
Thank you so much, Khatri family!

Pictures and Happenings Last Week

Last week was a short week, but it didn't stop us from learning and having a great time! The children were given more presentations, which led to added excitement in our room. Pre-K students are exploring more of the other areas of the room. Some of the favorite works are: Pink cubes, Constrictive Triangles, Sandpaper Letters and Spindle Box. Ask your child what is her/his new favorite work. The Kindergarten students started their work plans. They are striving to complete them at the end of the week. I confer with each child about their work plan and set a goal for the next week every Friday.

Class jobs are also growing. We now have barista and botanist jobs. Room 101 has been grinding our own coffee beans and serving teachers freshly brewed coffee in the afternoon. Thank you to Nyah Griffin for donating Dark Matter coffee beans and to the Mays family for the French press. This work is very popular as of the moment!

The Suder Jog-a-thon was a huge success! The children were very excited to see parents and friends cheer them on. Our Suder community was very evident during this event. I felt happiness and kindness all around. Thank you families for your never ending support!

For me, Soup Friday was my favorite part of last week. It was an impromptu decision to have some of the parents who walked back to school with the class join us at Sunset meeting. The children's efforts and hard work came full circle when they got to share the soup they made with you. They were so proud of themselves. =)
