What's Cooking in Room 101?

Hello friends and family,

What a busy start to Quarter 2! Our class has been cooking up a storm, literally! We have made avocado toast, veggie soup, banana muffins and pumpkin soup to name a few. I enjoy seeing our students do the food prepping. I've also noticed that they are more likely to taste and explore new foods when they are part of the preparation stage. Our former students created a "club", the Two Bite Club that stuck with us until now. At Sunset meeting, they remind each other to take at least two bites of what we made. There are so many benefits to this activity in your child's learning development as well. Children learn sequencing, measurement, fine motor skills, collaboration, etc. Not to mention, they are having so much fun!

We also got busy with a trip to the MSI, made napkin rings for Thanksgiving meals and had so many new presentations!

I want to thank you all for entrusting your children to us. I am grateful of you and the community we have created in Room 101! Happy Thanksgiving!

These kindergateners are published writers!!!

They finished a unit on narrative writing.

We visited Room 108 (E1 classroom) to celebrate!

They read their stories. They were so proud of themselves! After the publishing party, they realized that their audience consisted of 1st, 2nd AND 3rd graders!!! They couldn't believe they had the courage to do it! Bravo!
