Closing Out The Year With Festivities!

The year is almost over! I can't believe we have spent tons of memorable times in Room 101. As we close this year, we expand our learning and perspective of the world through different celebrations and customs. Today, we had Amelia's mom talk about Hanukkah. On Friday, Daniel's mom will be talking about Kwanzaa.

I've noticed a lot of children's interests shift to Language Arts. They are still working and choosing works from different areas but I can surely see more initiative in choosing works like: the Sound Boxes and Moveable Alphabet. Here's a fun song to practice phonemic awareness at home to support your child's interest.

Last Friday's Winter Recital was a hit! Thank you very much for all of the families and friends who watched the performances. The children were beaming with happiness because of you!

Enjoy last week's photos! See you at school. =)

Sasha and Charlie sorted objects with the same beginning sounds.

Garvit and Xitlali building words with the Moveable Alphabet.

The children created Kinara bracelets to represent the candles on the Kinara.

Indirect Aim: Hand-Eye coordination =)

Xitlali, Frances and Sebastian played the Dreidel Game

Audrey practiced her handwriting using the chalkboard.

Dylan and Cameron focused on writing the 100 Board.

Look at how proud Garvit and Ibrahim are with their completion of the 45 Layout.

Nijel and his Brown Prism structure.

Sasha made her Sound Boxes booklet.

Stefan enjoying Pete the Cat in the class library.

Zoe ties to complete the Trinomial cube.

Winter created her Sound-Picture booklet.

Audrey finished a Writer's Workshop story and read it to the whole class.

Carlos, Charlie's dad came to our room to talk about Las Posadas.

He had a great time with the children!

"Aloha!!!"

Some of the children of Room 101 (others were getting reading for the Music House performance)

The pinata from the Pina family.
Liliya, Amelia's mom came today to talk about how their family celebrate Hanukkah. She gave each child chocolate gelts!
She also had fun! Thank you!
